The Celebrity Big Brother couple have had a roller-coaster romance over the last few months
Stephanie Davis and Jeremy McConnell's love affair has been blasted as a "toxic" soap opera.
The ex-Hollyoaks actress was dumped by Irish hunk Jeremy last month after she publicly accused him of sleeping with five women behind her back - only for them to reunite a week later.
Psychologist Judi James has now said it wasn't a surprise they're back on, claiming the couple are lost in their own soap opera.
She told Star magazine: "They are caught up in a toxic but addictive soap opera.
"Steph made up her mind to trust Jeremy completely while they were in the goldfish bowl of Big Brother house, but she had no idea how he might behave once they were outside."
Explaining why she thinks the actress, 23, seems committed to making the romance work despite the cheating accusations, Judi continued: "Having decided he was her ideal man, she now seems to be trying to twist any evidence to the contrary to fit her 'idealistic' view."
Referring to the 26-year-old Lothario, who has admitted to sleeping with Caroline Pool while on a nightout in Newcastle while Steph was still in the CBB house, she said: "Jeremy seems to be blaming his behaviour on his past upsets.
"If Steph is prepared to accept that, it could be his 'get out of jail free card' to do pretty much what he wants."
The sacked Hollyoaks star risked the wrath of fans as she launched into a lengthy Twitter rant last week as she confirmed they were back on.
Insisting she was "following her heart" she wrote on Twitter: "I can confirm the messages supposedly sent from Jeremy aren't true. Everyone can hate and say what they like, but at the end of the day I met a boy who I fell in love with."
Blaming media intrusion on her heartbreak the actress - who has given a number of glossy magazine interviews about her relationship - said it had been the "worst week of her life".
She said "It's been hard with all the press and tweets, have all you not experienced heart ache?
"It's been so hard for us. And if you could all see the pain I've been in and him you would understand."
Fans were quick to point out that Steph regularly posts messages on her various social media accounts about her on/off relationship with Jez.
The 22-year-old wrote: "Yes you're right and I won't be posting my life on social media. But when you meet someone you love and can't live without you know it's real.
"This week has been the worst week of my life and I just want to be happy. Against me or not I'll do what I have to do and follow my heart.
"Where sets what will be will be (sic). There's a lot you don't know only by what papers say. It's my life and my choice, I might be wrong I might be right... I can only follow my heart and hope."
Twitter users were quick to reply with one saying: "Be happy but stop making yourself look desperate x"
Another said: "Frankly this entire soap opera is becoming a comedy circus. In a year who'll give a f**k? Bored now.
"You've split up at the rate of once a fortnight in your 6 week relationship. Of course you're not gonna be happy lol," another fan commented.
One fan wrote: "'Can't live without' is a tad dramatic. How on earth did you survive before you met him?"
Steph and Jeremy found love in the Celebrity Big Brother house in January and their pairing was instantly controversial as she was in a relationship with model Sam Reece at the time.
Since then, Jeremy has been dogged by allegations of cheating and the pair have split up and rekindled their romance more times than we care to count.
Just recently Stephanie said: "I believed him ... And they were all true! Absolute joke! Liar.
"New chapter for me too️ the last one never existed as far as I'm concerned."
And Jeremy also said it was over for good, telling Mirror Celeb: "I'm saddened and feel sick the lies and slander she's caused.
“I flew over to Spain and we both sat down and ironed things out and she knows full well I opened up about everything that's happened."
He also slammed the star for bringing his late mum into their split, saying: "We broke up last week down to other issues which I won't go into.
"But bringing all this up again which is months old, and bring my dead mam into it like she did was low, but it probably is her way to deflect on what really broke us up.”
Reps have been contacted regarding the allegations.
