"Big Brother" is coming to New Orleans, but it has nothing to do with George Orwell, the NSA or Janis Joplin's old band. Rather, we're talking about the CBS reality show, which is coming to town Saturday (April 9) to hold auditions for potential contestants.
"Fun and competitive personalities" aged 21 and older are invited to audition Saturday afternoon CrossFit NOLA Downtown, at 1309 Magazine Street, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Hosted by Julie Chen, "Big Brother" is as much a social experiment as a reality show. Every season, a group of strangers are brought together to live in a Los Angeles house, where they must all remain for the duration of the season. All along, high-definition cameras and microphones record their every move, 24 hours a day.
Each week, the so-called "houseguests" compete in a series of challenges, after which they vote to evict one of them. The last remaining houseguest wins a $500,000 grand prize.
The 18th season of "Big Brother" is scheduled to begin June 22.
