Winston McKenzie evicted from Celebrity Big Brother: Star leaves the house after being voted out by HOUSEMATES

The star became the first of the 16 famous faces to leave the series in tonight's dramatic live episode

Winston McKenzie has been evicted from Celebrity Big Brother .

In a shock twist tonight, the housemates were asked to choose who they wanted to leave the house - with the majority (13-1) choosing Winston ahead of fellow housemate Nancy Dell'Olio.

It came after pregnant Kristina Rihanoff was saved earlier in the night.

As each placed the name of the housemate they wished to leave in an envelope on the floor, Winston and Nancy waited in anticipation for the result.

From describing his comments as "disgusting", to criticising his views on gay adoption, each housemate aired their views on Winston's controversial opinions in the house.

The only housemate to save Winston was Jeremy, as he said: "Winston has his own views. I judge people by how they treat me."

Meanwhile every other housemate chose to save Nancy, as David told Winston: "I”m sorry but your views are different to mine. Anybody should be able to adopt a child."

Tiffany added: "I have a lot of gay friends and family. With the way you feel, I cant agree with that type of hate."

And Christopher Maloney said: "Please don’t take this personally. All my life I've been fighting homophobia," and Darren added: "My brother is gay and in a happy long term relationship. The comment you made is outrageous."

Gemma then said: "Basically, i thought your comment was absolutely disguting," and John added: "Winston I don't respect you and that disgusted me."

Stephanie concluded: "My best friend is gay and trying for a baby with his partner."

He left the house to huge boos from the crowd, but managed to keep on a brave face until his exit interview.

Host Emma Willis struggled to contain her emotions as she interviewed Winston.

Comparing his time in the house to boxing - which infuriated Emma more than words - Winston began by saying: "I’m a boxer. Amateur professional. I thought I knew everything. But when I walked into the house and heard other people’s stories, anxieties, what they’ve been through, I realised you don’t know everything.

"There are people out there who really give it their all... It's such a revelation for me."

However, while he's softened - his views haven't changed.

Winston made headlines with his views about gay adoption in November 2012.

The 62-year-old made his opinion known when he said children deserved to be raised by a heterosexual or single family.

"To say to a child, 'I am having you adopted by two men who kiss regularly but don't worry about it' – that is abuse," the Metro reported him saying.

"It is a violation of a child's human rights because that child has no opportunity to grow up under normal circumstances."

It angered his housemates tonight, as they questioned his statements, and Emma was quick to jump onboard too.

Emma said: "People watching are the people that are voting for you," before pleading with the star to stop comparing everything to boxing.

Winston responded: "People are entitled to their opinions. I'm being portrayed as a people hater. There are people in life who are gay and they've fought long and hard for their rights and I respect that. We live in a democratic society and we have the right to our opinions."

Emma then responded: "It's not that people think you shouldn’t have opinions. It’s comparing adoption to child abuse - thats very offensive."

Winston began to say: "I’m Christian," but Emma stopped him and said: "That doesn’t come into it."

He went on: “I expressed my feelings at the time. It doesn’t mean to say that I’m one to tell someone who wants to adopt a child, that they can’t do so, I don’t make the rules.

"My comment was made in the heat of the moment, the press were on me, it was a General Election and they got what they were looking for. So whatever comment I made at that time, it wasn’t something that was done from the heart. The simple fact is they portrayed it the way, however spiteful they wanted. I agree with my heartfelt feelings. I’m not going to change my mind, or the way I am.”

However, not being swayed, Emma asked him to confirm if he stands by his statements about gay adoption, and Winston replied: “Would you like me to sit here and lie?

"We don’t need to go over it again. I’ve made my statement.”

Emma replied: "So you still agree with it. It's sad people still think that it's OK," before adding: "You're discounting such a large part of the population."

He went on to say: “The work I do for homeless children and mothers, and people who are destitute, I can match any MP because people know me as the man of the people. I step in as I know what it is to struggle.”

There are now 15 remaining famous faces in the Celebrity Big Brother house - but it's certainly no longer a happy home following this evening's dramatic series of events.

Trouble started to brew when Megan McKenna and Stephanie Davis decided to steal Nancy Dell'Olio's wine from underneath her bed - which she claimed she had been saving for dinner.

After finding out what had happened, Nancy was furious, explaining that the pair's actions were an invasion of her privacy.

"Honest to God, we thought - I swear on my mum's life - we thought you'd nicked the bottle of red wine. I'm sorry," Megan pleaded afterwards.

But despite her apology, tensions remained pretty high.

Drama then kicked off again when housemates found out that Winston had once compared gay adoption to child abuse.

At first he tried to defend his comments, stressing: "How can I? I’m a Christian. How can I go against my beliefs? No I’m not homophobic, no I don’t hate gays, people live their lives as according to how they want to live."

But his explanation did not sit well with the others, particularly Angie who has spent 45 years campaigning for gay rights.

She revealed: "There was something [that] happened in my life before I came into the house over Christmas...

"Obviously I thought it’s very private news, you know, but because we are living as one family now and everybody is sort of supporting one another now, it happened to be that I found that my boyfriend and I are going to have a little one.”

Congrats guys!

Celebrity Big Brother returns to Channel 5 tonight at 9pm.
