Big Brother 19 season is almost upon us! By the end of next month, we’ll be back once more covering 'Big Brother 19' Spoilers, News, Live feeds and talking players.
For now, though, the best move is to continue to speak about the show more in a general sense, and look at some of the ideas that should be considered from the just concluded 'Big Brother Canada 5'....…and also which ones should be thrown into the nearest wastebasket.
Half newbies / half vets – This did work better on the Canadian show than expected, and the reason for that is because producers, save for maybe Houseguests, Neda, Kevin, and Bruno, cast for personalities first. It turned out that Ika ended up being a tremendous player, and then some other vets shot themselves in the foot.
Personally, at this point it’d still be so much better to have all-new players in the game.
Immunity until jury – Absolutely no. Never. Never do this again. Big Brother 13 did a form of this with the golden keys, but that was even better because there was something that went into it beyond just the voting public. Neda was set up for a huge fall this spring, and the change in her edit and her endgame was painful to watch.
Backwards Week – There is something about the concept of doing nominations, the Veto, and the Head of Household in the way they were done here that is interesting and could shake up the game. Unfortunately, if the house is divided and there is a clear majority and minority, this twist is terrible. It’s too risky that you’ll get a predictable week at the end of it.
Secret Veto – YES. The execution of this is always so much better in the US show, where they assume that the Houseguests are so dumb that they need to DECLARE A TWIST AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS LIKE THE PARIS ROOM. Ahem. More secret twists like this in the house.
No returning juror – It worked great not having one on Big Brother Canada this season; someone needs to tell US producers that a jury buyback is not something that should be a given every single season.
Triple Eviction – It was fun this year on Big Brother Canada because the underdog in Kevin avoided it. That said, it did screw over Dre / William and it’s almost impossible to defend yourself from unless you win a competition.
The house design – Sure, this isn’t game play, but the Canada house is the best in any country of the show. It’s beautiful, well-lit, and doesn’t always feel like the epitome of grossness even when it is. Remember, someone did briefly consider having SAND in the US house last summer.
