Could the Big Brother house be about to get even bigger than before? Well that could certainly be the case if newly revealed plans for the show are anything to go by.
Because it seems the house is set to undergo a major revamp – once the current batch of celebrity housemates have left for good – to extend the living area and garden in time for the summer series of the show.
Yup, production company Endemol Shine have submitted plans to Hertsmere Borough Council, the local council in Elstree where the compound is situated, to build what sounds to us like an extra Big Brother house.
The application proposes the ‘erection of an additional television production set and a television studio’ as well as ‘the creation of an additional external area and extension of acoustic and visual fence to North East corner of compound.’
And the floorplan suggests exactly how this might be achieved – adding an extra 700 sq metres to the current house.
Which has prompted speculation that we could be in for a big twist when the civilian edition of the show arrives later this year – possibly involving two houses.
Now that would shake things up a bit.
Endemol have also submitted a request for a new eviction and interview area to be built – pointing out that the set they are using at the moment is ‘unsuitable for use in bad weather conditions’.
Which could mean Emma Willis can finally leave her umbrella at home:
Show bosses are looking for the application to be approved by March 17 – which would give them time to make the changes before the show returns to screens in the summer.
Celebrity Big Brother 2016, meanwhile, is set to wrap up on Friday night – with one of either Danniella Westbrook, Tiffany Pollard, John Partridge, Darren Day, Stephanie Davis or Scotty T crowned series winner.
