Jemima Slade appeared on Good Morning Britain after her dog Jakey was stolen
Theft of pets has risen by 40% in three years - including the beloved dog of a former Big Brother housemate.
Jemima Slade appeared on Good Morning Britain today to tell how her pet was dognapped and bundled into a van.
Jemina sobbed as she said: "I won't give up, I'll keep searching" after the chihuahua was stolen more than a year ago.
Dogs charities want the law to be changed to give tougher sentences to anyone stealing pets.
Jemima starred on BB14 with the likes of Sallie Axl and is at her wits end with worry over Jakey.
Jakey was taken by a thief in Marylebone, central London.
Jakey got out of Jemima's flat in Marylebone on July 21 2014 and almost a year on she is still searching, receiving hoax messages and even consulting Tarot readers.
After spending a frantic night searching for him, she was told someone had spotted him in Cosway Street.
CCTV would later appear to show Jakey being grabbed as he walked along the road by a man who threw him into a white van and sped off.
Jemima told Mirror Celeb: "Jakey was part of our family - a son and brother. We have been absolutely devastated since he has been stolen.
"These men who took him have caused upheaval and changed our lives in an unbelievable way that you cannot imagine. We will never be complete again until he is returned to us."
The black and fawn Chihuahua was born on the same day as Jemima, January 22 and she had him since he was eight weeks old.

He has a distinctive look, having had his tooth removed, his tongue hangs out.
She said: "he doesn't eat dog food so we are worried about him. I bought him for my daughter as she wanted a brother so we called him Jakey Little like Stuart Little.
"He got out of the flat due to people moving downstairs and left the door open.
"He ran to my salon roads away and got taken 20 yards from it.
They chased him up and down the road, he bit them and put up such a fight that they went to the van and got a jumper to throw over him. it was heartbreaking to watch. There was a woman and a child in the van too."
Since seeing the CCTV footage she has even received sick hoax calls claiming he has been found.
She said: "How disgusting that they cannot think this little baby belonged to a family who are devastated and they do not have a damn inch of conscience.
"There has not been a day go by that I have not actively carried on looking for him, online, sending posters, even dog communicators."
Since Big Brother Jemima has become an actress, starring in Essex Boys Law of Survival and her latest movie is Deep Breaths, a film about bullying which premieres in Leicester Square this weekend.
