Big Brother 17 has gone dark to live feed viewers until Tuesday night’s taped eviction episode is broadcast. In the hours leading up to the blackout, however, conversations between the Head of Household, Vanessa Rousso, and one of the other house votes revealed a potential blindside that will send an unexpected guest packing on Tuesday.
As the Inquisitr reported Sunday, the veto competition and ceremony have already taken place. John McGuire won the veto and took himself off the block. Vanessa nominated Austin Matelson in his place. With Austin on the block against Steve Moses, Liz Nolan is expected to vote for her showmance partner to stay. If John votes with her, Steve will go to jury; but if he votes to keep Steve, the tiebreaker will go to Vanessa.
Big Brother Network reported that on Sunday, John told Steve he has to convince Vanessa to keep him over Austin. John will not vote for Steve unless he’s assured it will work; otherwise, he will just upset Liz and Austin. John told Steve that he cannot lobby Vanessa directly on Steve’s behalf, or else she’ll accuse John of having a final two deal with Steve.
Later in the day, Vanessa told John they have to make a big move in order to impress the jury. She recommended keeping Steve and blindsiding Austin. She went so far as to promise to handle Liz after Austin went home. According to a previous Big Brother Network timeline, this conversation came after Vanessa assured Liz and Austin that John’s vote didn’t matter, since Liz and Vanessa would both vote for Austin to stay.
If Steve does go to jury, he will have made it further than he perhaps assumed. His HOH letter, written last week, told viewers his mother thought he would not make it to jury. He finished his letter saying the show has done wonders for his personal confidence.
“Making it to Final Five is waaay better than I ever could have hoped or asked for. This experience and making it this far has been absolutely amazing for my social confidence. No matter what happens from this point on in the game, I can leave with my head held high knowing that I do have the social skills to make friends and get around in the world, and that’s a really good feeling.”
Meanwhile, if Austin goes to jury, Vanessa and John will likely have pulled off a blindside. The wrestler probably assumes he will survive the vote, although the Big Brother Network Sunday highlights indicate he was confused about why Steve wasn’t trying harder to stay. He might have been suspicious that something was up. But in the same breath, he also told Liz they would be the first showmance to make it to the end.
Big Brother 17 airs the taped eviction on Tuesday. Another eviction will happen Wednesday, when the house will be down to the final three. There’s another episode the following Sunday and the season finale airs Wednesday, September 23.
