‘Big Brother 18' House to Feature International, Travel Theme

Season 18 of CBS’ long-running reality competition series ‘Big Brother’ looks to transport its houseguests around the world with the ‘Big Brother’ House getting an international makeover for the upcoming season!

As the Big Brother Season 18 premiere date inches closer, new details surrounding the new season are finally making their way online! While the details on the Season 18 cast remain under tight lock and key, new photos have surfaced online which provide fans with their first glimpse at the new Big Brother house!

Through the photos, we are able to determine that the overall theme for the Season 18 Big Brother house is traveling with an emphasis on international culture and locations. Before we dive into further details on this season’s house design, allow me to extend one spoiler warning for the individuals looking to avoid any further spoilers on this season’s house design.

Perhaps the most intriguing change to the house design is the addition of a set of larger double doors, which replace the old main entrance where the houseguests enter and exit the game. It’s an interesting choice as the Big Brother House has always featured one single door – which leaves us to question whether the bigger door could be alluding to a bigger cast!

As we make our way into the house, we quickly see that the production team has gone with a travel, worldly theme. The kitchen is adorned with a wallpaper decorated by colorful planes with the upper parts of the walls featuring an airport backdrop. There’s a large Eiffel Tower sitting atop the fridge and the table’s Lazy Susan features a beautiful compass design with three metal suitcases stacked resting on the table.

Making our way to the bed rooms, we are greeted with a room dedicated to Japanese anime which even features a bright yellow phone booth – and we already know that that phone booth is going to come into play at some point in the season, perhaps to deliver messages to the contestants ahead of a competition. The phone booth connects us to the second bedroom which draws inspiration from Great Britain with a quaint British themed room.

It looks like we’ll have to wait to see what this year’s Have-Not room looks like until the season begins, which is typical as CBS attempts to keep at least one element of the house’s design unknown in order to surprise viewers. While the Have-Nots slum it up in what is sure to be a torturous room, the HoH will be able to kick back in a Hawaiian themed room complete with a new fish tank behind the HoH bed.

This beach theme carries over to the bathroom area where the production team has literally brought the beach to the Big Brother House! The bathroom floor is covered with sand, which is sure to make the houseguests unhappy this season. Just think about how big of a pain it will be for them to have to step out of the shower and have to walk through sand. It’s also likely to cause quite the mess as the houseguests track sand throughout the house as they way to and from the bathroom area.

Our journey ends as we make our way into the backyard which features wilderness wall art around the entire exterior of the Big Brother yard. This year’s back yard also features a new swimming pool that appears to have joined the hot tub and pool into one sleek design.

All in all, our first glimpse at the Season 18 Big Brother house offers up a fun and unique design which is likely going to play a role in this season’s overall theme. We can definitely see the production team drawing inspiration from the international, travel theme for competitions and twists!
